The Rivers Stour and Orwell meet between Harwich and Felixstowe Port before flowing out into the North Sea between Walton-on-the-Naze and Landguard Point.
The confluence of the two rivers provides a metaphor for Point-to-Point, an ongoing drawing collaboration between artists Simon Carter and Jevan Watkins Jones.
Their exhibition at the Benham Gallery brings together a large number of drawings made both on location and in the studio and experiments with how the work might be presented and how it might communicate meaning by pairing, conjoining, overlaying and overlapping. This is the fourth presentation of work from Point-to-Point.
'We are interested in this process of two individuals drawings becoming one through one flowing into another or each disturbing the other as in a foamed-lipped eddy along a bank.’
Along with the drawings, phone photographs from times out drawing will be displayed.
The exhibition runs concurrently with Shore Lines, a Point-to-Point drawing installation at Firstsite.
